Our Community

Building The Coast. Building The Community.

Residents and businesses are fortunate when an individual and his organization consistently give back to their community without expecting anything in return – such is the commitment of Doug Spani, his family and his company, Spani Developments.

As a long-time resident of the Sunshine Coast, Doug and his dedicated team have given selflessly of their time and talents to help strengthen and build a stronger community and support a variety of local initiatives.

Whether the contribution is financial, providing community services, or sitting on boards or committees, Spani Developments steps in when action is needed.

Some of the many causes Spani Developments supports include:

Helping the Homeless: St. Hilda’s Church is a refuge for many of the homeless on the Sunshine Coast. In the winter of 2017/18, when St. Hilda’s church became structurally unsound, Doug and his team came to the rescue. They renovated space at the Upper Deck Hostel which provided much needed shelter for the homeless during the cold winter months.

Sechelt Hospital: Doug served as a Director on the Sechelt Hospital Foundation Board from 20082014 where he and his wife contributed to fundraising initiatives as well as organizing and sponsoring the tremendously successful annual golf tournament.

Sunshine Coast Rotary Club: A past Rotarian, Doug has also volunteered his time for various fundraising events for the Rotary Club of the Sunshine Coast.

District of Sechelt: Doug’s determination to give back has also led to his participation with several projects involving the District of Sechelt, including the Sechelt Airport and Advisory Planning Committee.
